Hi Robin,
Thanks for the great
tour to Bhutan. It was a totally amazing experience and we loved
every moment. It was great fun and we got lots of photographs on
our new cameras--we'll be sending you some for your web site soon. Good
luck with the art shows this fall/winter to introduce yet more folks to
your tour and beautiful Bhutan.

Why visit BHUTAN with Rainbow and Robin?
Because even for the well-traveled this is likely to be the most unique
trip of your lifetime! Known in their native language as Drukyul, or
the “Land of the Thunder Dragon”, the Bhutanese literally live in the
clouds in a land that is often referred to as the last Shangri-La - and
with good justification. It is indescribably beautiful with soaring mountains,
clouds floating, temples built literally into the sides of sheer rock
walls hanging on the steep side of a mountain, simple, serene. The culture
is still pretty unaffected by “western ways”, although that will not
last for much longer now that there is a national “highway”. So go now!
About 90% of the population are subsistence farmers working lands so
steep you would not think you could walk on them, much less plow those
fields with a team of oxen while wearing the colorful hand-woven national
dress. And then there are the numerous colorful monks and temples - or
“Dzongs” - yes, you will have to learn some new vocabulary! It is like
walking into the past in a picture postcard - with a bit of fantasy thrown
in for good measure. We have been spoiled forever by the individual care
we got from Rainbow. The guides and drivers were fantastic caretakers
and cultural exchange - a treasure trove of information. The private
festivals are an unparalleled experience that could not be duplicated
and worth the trip alone - as was the Taksang (Dragon’s Nest) hike. They
will always seem like the gateway to many fond memories for us! We have
nothing but accolades for both the Bhutan and Robin - who made it come
alive with his careful attention to detail and his personal care - which
even included a 30th wedding anniversary cake for us while we were there.
It was pretty special - and memorable all around for super photographers
or non-photographers alike.
