Bhutan Cross Country Cultural and Festivals Itinerary

Day 14 — {date14}

Flight from Yongphula airport to Paro

Flight from the nearby domestic airport in Yongphula to Paro: This flight above the clouds leaves at 10:00 a.m. and arrives in Paro at 11:40 after a brief stop in Gelephu or Bumthang. You will meet with new guides and drivers, they will be available for more Paro touring--some might want to make a quick run to Thimphu to see things they might have missed in the beginning. Dinner and overnight, NakSel Boutique Resort

Loading up and getting ready to fly back to two nights at Naksel Botique Resort and Spa and a pre-dawn hike to Tiger's Nest Monastery.

For 13 days we have been leapfrogging across the breadth of Bhutan; 8 cars, 8 guides, 8 drivers and 17 chilips, the Bhutanese word for foreign visitors but translates to, "aliens from another planet." On day 14 we leave our guides and drivers and take the new internal domestic flight from Yongphula—the very end of the Eastward road—and fly back to Paro. The airport resides at 9,000 feet elevation (2,700 meters), it has one runway that ends at a mountain cliff, above the clouds! It has an asphalt surface measuring 4,154 feet long and 120 feet wide (1,266 x 37 M).
What a thrill, a very unique flight on this blue planet, what a treat for seasoned world travelers.

Our guide and my Bhutanese brother, L. Dorji, looks down on his country for the first time, flight from Yongphula to Paro on day 14.
